A smart fridge needs less than a coffee machine: no water, no drain, no kitchen. What it does need fits in four lines. The spot matters more than the technology, because a fridge in a room nobody goes into stays full.
About half a square metre on a level floor, plus room to open the door.
An ordinary socket nearby. No three-phase power, water supply or drain needed.
Nothing from your side. The fridge connects over mobile data, so your IT team has nothing to open.
A route to the fridge for restocking, and a contact who lets in whoever fills it.
The best spot is one everyone passes anyway. In an office, next to the coffee corner or the lift. On a shop floor, on the route between changing room, time clock and workstation, out of the forklift lanes. In a building with a badge zone, ideally inside that zone.
A separate room looks tidy on a floor plan, but nobody walks in without a reason. A fridge nobody sees does not get used, however well it is stocked. So look at the walking routes first and only then at the socket.

| What is at play | Where the fridge goes | |
|---|---|---|
| Production with hygiene rules | No eating on the production floor | Outside the zone: changing room, canteen or corridor. More under manufacturers |
| Care facility | Infection control and care zones | The spot is decided by your infection control team. More under care facilities |
| Logistics with a safety zone | Outsiders do not enter the zone | Inside, outside by the waiting area, or two fridges |
| Building with badge access | Residents or staff, no passers-by | Inside the badge zone, in a visible place |
| No microwave nearby | Hot food is not possible | Find a spot for one, or keep the range cold |
How to set up an eating area where people actually eat is covered under setting up a staff canteen.

Before anything is delivered, we go through the spot with you: the place itself, the route from the delivery point with doors, thresholds, stairs and lifts, the socket and the nearest microwave. That shows straight away whether the door can swing open freely and whether the unit will fit through.
Is the spot not there yet, for example because of building work? Then set the delivery date once the space is ready. A fridge placed in a temporary spot is often never moved again.
As a rule, an ordinary socket nearby is enough. If your spot does need an adjustment, you will know before delivery, when we go through the spot with you.
The fridge is made for indoors. A covered but unheated space, such as a warehouse or an airlock, is looked at case by case. Outdoors in wind and rain is not an option, even if it would be the handiest spot.
No. The fridge connects over mobile data and does not join your network. No Wi-Fi password, no open port.
Then set the delivery once the space is there. In the meantime the range and the arrangements can already be prepared, so installation can follow soon after.
That is exactly what we check with you before delivery: the route from the delivery point to the spot, with doors, thresholds and lifts. If there is a problem, we look together for a different spot or a different route.
